Grey’s Anatomy fans who are particularly interested in spelling (come on, we do exist!), get ready to hear the best news ever: Creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes is officially set to live-blog the 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee!

According to ABC, Shonda is once again doing her annual duty of providing her witty commentary on the bee on blog A List of Things Thrown Five Minutes Ago when it airs on May 29, and she is super excited.

“I’ve been watching the bee forever,” Shonda said. “Way back when it was first on ESPN is when I first started watching. I’ve been watching FOREVER. I’m a nerd that way, but I was very into it and a bee nerd in school.”

Which isn’t surprising, considering she grew up to write two of the most successful shows on TV right now. And, if you remember correctly, Shonda did include a nod to the bee in a Season 2 episode of Grey’s.

“We did an episode of Grey’s Anatomy about a little boy who was about to be in the national spelling bee and was having awake brain surgery,” Shonda recalled. “They had him spell during his surgery to make sure everything was OK. That was my one little celebration of the bee so far.”

We can’t wait to read Shonda’s take on the spelling bee! The finals air live from Washington, D.C. on Thursday, May 29 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
