Yet another hidden talent emerges in the cast of Grey's Anatomy! This time, it's Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards) who is revealing mad skillz, unearthing a short animated film she made by hand back around 2011.

"Was recently reminded that I made this and wanted to share…" she wrote on Tumblr on June 2.

The film is titled Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree — and, sure enough, it's a "retelling of Sheldon Allan Silverstein's classic children's story," as Jerrika describes on Vimeo.

That picture book, first published in 1965, tells the tale of a young boy and the titular tree. The boy develops a dependent relationship with the tree — relying on it for friendship at first but later stripping it of its apples, branches, and finally its trunk. Throughout it all, the tree gives selflessly — happy as long as the boy is happy.

Jerrika's version, shown in silhouette with Noisettes' "Never Fall in Love Again" as the soundtrack, hews pretty close to that story — until the twist at last moment! The boy returns to the stump that used to be the tree and has a seat — before an apple dropped from a bird above beheads him.

Well, kids, just leave trees alone, OK?

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 airs this fall.
