As fans of Grey’s Anatomy, we don’t hold out much hope that our favorite departed characters will someday make a return to the show — mostly because when many of them make their big exit, they’re dead. But after Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke) made his big comeback in Season 10, we realized anything is possible. Does this mean we can expect more character returns in the future?
Maybe so, but if you ask Katherine Heigl, she’ll tell you it might not be her. Although she’s expressed in the past that she’d love to bring Izzie Stevens to life again on the show that launched her career, she’s stating again that it’s not her decision to make.
“That's not up to me. That's not my decision. But I think the show is fantastic. I have so many wonderful memories,” Katherine tells E! News. “I had so many wonderful experiences. I have some really phenomenal friends and people like T.R. Knight, who is like a brother to me, that I can't even imagine my life without. And I can't believe it's been this long. That we've been friends this long. I was 25 when we started. He was 30. Like, what happened? It feels like it was only a couple years ago, It's so weird.”
We’re holding out hope that we might get to see Izzie again — although chances may be slim, considering her controversial exit. But still, we dream! Maybe for the series finale? If, of course, that ever happens… which is a reality we refuse to accept.
Meanwhile, if you’re missing Katherine, you can see her on TV again starting this fall when her new drama, State of Affairs, premieres. It’ll be nice to get our weekly dose of Katherine again!
Do you want to see Izzie return, or does her storyline have closure for you?
