Oh, you were hoping for Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) to be happy again in Season 11 of Grey's Anatomy? We're so sorry, dear readers. It's not gonna happen.

At least, that's the sense we get from Grey's mastermind Shonda Rhimes, who tells TV Guide that plenty of drama is ahead for the surgeon spouses.

"The concept of the surrogate reveals more problems than it solves," Shonda says.

Pity that! When it dawned on Callie and Arizona in the Season 10 finale that they didn't have to choose one of them to take on the burden of carrying their second child — that they could get a third party to do the heavy lifting, so to speak — we thought that a surrogate might be the perfect solution.

"They pretended a lot of things were OK when they weren't OK," Shonda continues, "and it's time to face those problems. They'll either work them out or not and figure out what they want to be next."

At least they disregarded their problems knowingly. Remember when they tried to force happiness by buying a house?

"It's the 'If you build it, they will come' mentality," Jessica Capshaw explained at the time. "It's the absolute wish fulfillment. It's like, 'Let's paint a picture of where we would be really happy, and then let's hope we go there and then get really happy.'"

And that strategy has actually been working out for them fairly well, but from what Shonda says, it sounds like they'll have to face facts in Season 11.

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 premieres Thursday, September 25, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
