Now that Cristina (Sandra Oh) is fully ensconced in her new cardio "chocolate factory" in Switzerland, Owen (Kevin McKidd) no longer has someone to pine over in Seattle on Grey's Anatomy.

In a new interview with TV Guide, Grey's boss Shonda Rhimes dishes on his romantic prospects. First of all, there's the matter of timing, she says. Cristina and Owen were a 'ship of legend, so it'd be a disservice to Crowen fans to have him move on too soon.

"We're feeling that out," Shonda assures us. "That's an instinctive thing for me. Does it feel right yet? Does it feel good? Do we feel OK about that? Or does it feel icky? And I don't know yet."

The redheaded hunk's sudden single status does coincide with that of Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), who's sticking around in Seattle full-time after ditching fiancé James in Los Angeles. That turn of events could be very useful for Grey's writers, but Shonda has mixed feelings.

"Somehow that feels exciting. I've had that thought, and I don't know yet. I'm not interested in pushing that because I don't know yet. I think they have interesting personalities and I think they have interesting pains that one another could possibly solve."

Do you think Owen and Amelia are a good match? Sound off below!

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 premieres Thursday, September 25, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
