Could Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) give in to Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) presidential desires and move to Washington, D.C. in Grey's Anatomy Season 11? Showrunner Shonda Rhimes hinted in a recent interview that a D.C. move isn't out of the question for MerDer, but Ellen Pompeo seems to think it ain't gonna happen.

"The show can’t be in Washington, because then I would know that my parents are really alive and living in the White House and that might piss Meredith off if she goes and sees that Ellis and Thatcher both faked their deaths," Ellen joked to Entertainment Weekly.

In case you're not up on Shonda's other hit show, Ellen is referencing Scandal, where Kate Burton (Ellis) and Jeff Perry (Thatcher) both have big roles.

In all seriousness, Ellen assures fans that the D.C. question will be "resolved rather quickly." Since we can't see either Meredith or Derek moving to D.C. permanently — especially since Season 11 is supposed to be Mer-centric — we're guessing that Mer sticks to her guns and stays in Seattle. Maybe Derek will end up commuting to D.C. part-time, instead?
