When it comes to the Ice Bucket Challenge, who haven’t we seen dump a bucket of ice water over their heads recently? While much of Hollywood has already responded to their challenges in order to help raise money to find a cure for ALS, there’s one member of the Grey’s Anatomy cast who was a little late jumping on the bandwagon. But don’t worry — he’s making up for it now.
The latest Grey’s surgeon to take the challenge is Justin Chambers, whom you probably know as snarky peds doc Alex Karev. And thanks to CamillaLuddington.Org, we’ve got access to the video… and we have to admit, it’s one of the most anti-climactic ice bucket challenges ever.
In the vid, Justin and his son sit on stools and do the bucket over the head thing — and neither of them reacts to the ice whatsoever. Come on, guys? No screaming? If you want to watch, you can see the video here.
The good news is that more videos are coming, because Justin nominated two of his Grey’s co-stars: Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson) and Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang). Fingers crossed they decide to take them up on the challenge so we get to see a video that’s a little funnier than this one!
Many of the cast members already took the challenge on set, when they stood out in the ambulance bay decked out in scrubs as they dumped the buckets over their head as a team. The group included Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), Jessica Capshaw (Arizona Robbins), and Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) among others… and it was way more entertaining than Justin’s was. Sorry, Justin!
Maybe we’ll see a Grey’s episode in the future that spotlights ALS in light of the recent movement? We can think of no one better than Shonda Rhimes and her ace team of writers to take on such a scary, serious disease and help more people understand it.
