Congratulations, Loretta Devine! The Grey's Anatomy star was nominated for an Emmy today (July 19) for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. This is the second nomination for Loretta, who won the Emmy in this category in 2011.

In Season 8, Adele’s Alzheimer’s really took hold of her, leading to the first real disruption in her long marriage to Richard (James Pickens Jr.). Not only was she forced to stay in an assisted living facility, but she had an affair with another patient there.

We’ll never forget Adele’s face as Richard serenaded her from the operating room in Season 8, Episode 12: "Hope for the Hopeless," and she, slowly remembering him again, joined in for a bittersweet duet of “My Funny Valentine.” That scene alone should land her an Emmy, not to mention all of the other breakout scenes she had this year.

We’re rooting for you, Loretta!

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return to Thursdays at 9 p.m. with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
