Every Grey's Anatomy fan in the world is probably busy freaking out about the doctors who were in the huge plane crash on Season 8, Episode 23: "Migration." Given that at least one main character is supposed to die, the logical conclusion is that one of the characters caught up in the huge disaster will fail to make it through Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight."

However, we're not entirely convinced that's what will happen. Yes, the docs who were on the plane are in danger, and it sounds like we won't know their fates at the end of the episode — Shonda Rhimes does love cliffhangers, so that shouldn't be a shock.

You know what would be a shock? If, as most of the cast is struggling to survive in the woods, one of the doctors who was left at Seattle Grace-Mercy West unexpectedly dies. Talk about a misdirect! That seems like exactly the kind of ironic twist of fate Shonda loves.

According to the press release about the episode, Richard (James Pickens Jr.) spends the episode planning "a special dinner for the residents." Can't you just imagine him getting all excited to treat them, only to unexpectedly die (car crash? Heart attack?) at the last second? It doesn't get sadder than that!

Or what about April (Sarah Drew)? The last time we saw her, she was out of control, drunk and depressed. What if, in that self-destructive state, she does something really stupid that gets her killed? Like, we don't know, wandering into the street in a drunken stupor. Could happen.

The point is, there are lots of ways that the docs back at the hospital could still wind up in trouble, and we wouldn't put it past Shonda to throw in one final twist like that.

What do you think: Will we end up with the obvious (though heartbreaking) death by plane crash, or is it still possible that anyone could die by the end of the season? Weigh in on our Facebook page or in the comments below.
