Every couple of seasons, Grey’s Anatomy introduces a new group of interns into the mix. While our love for interns will never match the love we felt for Meredith, Cristina, Alex, George, and Izzie when they were just starting out, these new interns have something totally different to offer to the show. Dr. Heather Brooks (Tina Majorino), or Mousy, as she’s been nicknamed, is one of these new interns.

It’s time to find out how well Heather has done so far in her first year as a surgical intern! We will be grading her on her intelligence, or surgical skills, her interaction with the other doctors, and how interested she keeps us in finding out what will happen to her next.

Let’s see how she did!

Intelligence: A-. We didn’t get to see much of Heather’s surgical prowess this season -- that is, until Derek picked her as his neuro intern (at poor Shane’s expense!). She worked extra hard to catch Derek’s attention in the OR, and he has decided he wants her on his service for a while — that counts for something big! If McDreamy thinks you’re right for the job, then you must show a lot of promise.

Interaction: C. Heather hasn’t shown she cares too much about fitting in with the rest of the doctors, and she is not Bailey’s favorite person. But Meredith does seem to like her, and we trust her judgment. Or maybe Heather just has a knack for impressing the Shepherds.

Interest: B. Heather wasn’t given much attention from the writers toward the beginning of the season — all she had going for her was sleeping with Alex Karev. But lately, she’s been working harder to gain the approval of her attendings, and we look forward to seeing what happens to her in the future.

Final grade: B
