By the morning after Grey's Anatomy: The Musical Event aired, the soundtrack was already topping the music charts. The album hit #3 on iTunes just a day after it debuted, and it was the #1 top-selling iTunes soundtrack (take that, Glee!). Sara Ramirez (Callie)'s hard-hitting (by which we mean totally insane) interpretation of "The Story" by Brandy Carlisle even made it to #69 on the Billboard Hot 100 List (personally, we were more impressed with the cast's rendition of "How to Save a Life," but whatever).

The 9-track album climbed to #24 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums within a week. Obviously, all the hype surrounding the episode paid off in the success of the cast album. We think this marks a pretty solid leap into the world of TV musicals for Shonda Rhimes and Co. Congrats!
