Now that it’s been decided that Seattle Grace-Mercy West will be known as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital — which, uh, didn’t make me tear up at all or anything when Avery (Jesse Williams) announced that last episode — the E.R. is back open for business in the most recent episode of Grey's Anatomy (Season 9, Episode 18: "Idle Hands").

Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) pregnancy is moving along at full tilt — of course, she’s convinced her baby will have two heads and a tail, but what else would we expect from Mer — while the docs celebrate owning their very own hospital with new branded coffee sleeves.

But when Mer finds an inoperable mass in the gallbladder of a sweet teacher who thinks she’s in for a routine removal, there is some real-world bad news to tend to. And when the teacher’s too-cute gaggle of students sneak out of after school study hall to visit and beg her to return to class, the two must face the devastating news head-on. (And make us all cry in the process.)

Cristina (Sandra Oh) quickly realizes that being on the board isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when she attempts to get in on a valve replacement trial, only to find herself being hit up for extra cash by the attending running the trial. Good thing she can manipulate the board for her own gain and get in on the project she’s obsessing over.

Over in peds, Alex (Justin Chambers) introduces us his newest patient, a 12-year-old boy suffering from cancer who has also adopted the role of Karev’s wingman. Together, the pair torture Jo’s OB/GYN suitor by sending him running around the hospital after fictional patients. Just tell her you love her, Alex. Please, we’re begging you.

Meanwhile, Bailey (Chandra Wilson)  is shopping around her latest scheme to get Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital on the map: a genome-mapping project. (Though none of her fellow doctors-slash-board members are all that eager to be taking the bait.) Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) is back on her high-heel-clad feet with the help of her prosthetic, and there’s a new body-imaging-X-ray-machine-toy-thing in the OR that has everyone chomping at the bit to try.

But, when a 16-year-old girl ATV accident victim comes into the hospital – with her skin attached to her skull by a thread, I might add – Hunt (Kevin McKidd), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), and the interns are left with bigger fish to fry. This includes an angry, angry father who all but beats Ross up in the waiting room. New(ly named) hospital, same drama.

On a (somewhat) lighter note, Kepner (Sarah Drew) is stressing out about her virgin paramedic boyfriend Matthew – because as she explains, she’s "already been to the carnival and wants to go again” – while Arizona and Callie (Sara Ramirez) plan for their first evening of sexy time in many, very long months.

But it’s in the last few moments of the episode that the most important development of the night happens: we find out that McBaby is really McDreamy version 2.0. Yep, they’re having a boy.

What did you think of this week’s episode? And more importantly, what do you think Mer and Der will name their baby boy? Sound off in the comments!
