Amazing news for Grey's Anatomy fans! The show has been renewed for Season 9, which means that, no matter what happens with the six original stars’ contracts, Shonda & Co. will deliver another drama- and romance-filled season at Seattle Grace-Mercy West.

TVLine confirms that our favorite medical drama was officially renewed, which isn’t exactly surprising news, but there has been talk that a Grey’s Anatomy with an uncertain future in which six leads weren’t guaranteed to come back wasn’t confidence-boosting for ABC execs.

Regardless, Shonda had said previously that Season 9 would go on “no matter what,” and Shonda typically gets what Shonda wants.

Grey’s joins fellow ABC shows Modern Family, Happy Endings, Castle, and new series Revenge, Once Upon a Time, and Suburgatory among the renewed shows.

Grey’s Anatomy returns with an all-new episode on Thursday, April 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
