It will be a plane crash! Derek was sucked out the side! Does he die? Well, that’s next week.

Tonight’s episode of Grey's Anatomy (Season 8, Episode 23: "Migration") seemed to be riddled with avoidance and denial. April (Sarah Drew) was avoiding answering her phone because she wants to remain in denial about her increasingly dim future in medicine after failing her boards (not to mention talking to Jackson [Jesse Williams] about her First Time). Lexie (Chyler Leigh) was avoiding Mark (Eric Dane) because she’s not sure how he feels about her big I Love You confession. Bailey (Chanda Wilson) was avoiding lunch with Ben (and free time in general), because she probably was in denial about her former interns migrating away from the nest she’s built for them.

It goes on. Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) avoiding her best friend, in denial about his fatal cancer. Cristina (Sandra Oh) avoided making a decision about which program to choose, because she was scared of a future without Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) (and Owen [Kevin McKidd]), and Meredith just clung to whatever Cristina’s decision would be because she didn’t want to make one for herself.

So did any decisions actually get made? Did anyone overcome their fear of facing what scared them? Did anything happen at all? Well, April is no longer “the best candidate for the job,” so she might be leaving for good by the finale. Cristina gave Meredith some shocking news: Owen is Cristina’s person now, not Meredith. Meredith says she’s going to Boston, and Cristina says she’s going to Mayo. But the Mayo Clinic has three locations: Arizona, Minnesota, and Florida. Karev (Justin Chambers) is probably going to Johns Hopkins in Maryland. But really, all we can think about is that promo for the finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight").

In the meantime, how would you rate tonight’s episode?

Catch the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, May 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
