Amidst all the plane debris on the Grey's Anatomy Season 8 finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight"), there were some decisions made by the residents back at Seattle Grace-Mercy West. So, where is everyone headed next year?

Well, Teddy’s (Kim Raver) fate is sealed. She and Owen (Kevin McKidd) had a heartwarming make-up session, but Owen still fired her after finding out about her MEDCOM offer (which she’d declined). Shonda Rhimes has confirmed that Teddy is gone for good. Shonda says she'll think of Teddy “still out there in the Grey’s Anatomy universe, running Army Medical Command and building a new life.”

As for Jackson (Jesse Williams), he decided to take the offer at Tulane University in New Orleans, presumably leaving April (Sarah Drew) behind for good. Alex (Justin Chambers) has made the decision to leave Seattle for Johns Hopkins Hospital’s elite medical program in Baltimore, Maryland.

That makes it seem like Jackson, Teddy, and Karev won’t be in Seattle for Season 9. But we still don’t know where Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Cristina (Sandra Oh), and April will wind up. Cristina declared during the finale that she wants out of Seattle Grace-Mercy Death, but with Teddy gone, that potentially opens up the Cardio chief position for her to take over. Will MerDer have to give up their Boston dreams now that Derek’s future as a neurosurgeon is in jeopardy? And are Jackson and Karev really going to leave?

Time (and Shonda) will hopefully tell.

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return to Thursdays at 9 p.m. with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
