After watching the devastating first two episodes of Grey's Anatomy Season 9, we can't help but be worried for Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).

Arizona has lost her leg after the Season 8 plane crash, and Callie is the one who made the call to cut it off, despite having promised Arizona she wouldn't let that happen. Yes, she did it to save Arizona's life, but that hasn't stopped Arizona from spiraling into a depression, and the challenges facing the Calzona marriage are huge. Even Sara Ramirez says she's "worried" about the couple's future.

Will the relationship survive? We weigh the reasons it may or may not.

Why it might not: At this moment, things are not looking up for Calzona. As we saw in Season 9, Episode 2: “Remember the Time,” Callie felt like Arizona became a different person after the crash — a much meaner shell of the loving woman she was — and she worried that if Arizona lost her leg she'd never mentally recover. Season 9, Episode 1: "Going, Going, Gone" seemed to bare this dire prediction out, showing that Arizona has quit her job, spends her days laying in bed, and is deeply angry at Callie.

Having your wife order your leg cut off — even if it was the right thing to do — is a hard thing to get over. Meanwhile, poor Callie is basically holding the family together with no support, and seems to be at the end of her rope. It's easy to see why these lovely ladies might decide the marriage isn't salvageable.

Why it almost certainly will anyway: In the end, this is Grey's Anatomy. While some seemingly good relationships do crash and burn on this show, once you find your "person" in Shondaland, things normally work out in the end (well, that or you both die. Sorry Lexie [Chyler Leigh] and Mark [Eric Dane]). And come on — Callie and Arizona are each other's people. They have a daughter! They've survived so many obstacles!

We continue to have faith that Callie and Arizona will get through this together. Even more encouraging? Jessica Capshaw has said that, in the end, Arizona's story won't be about defeat. Plus, Shonda Rhimes has promised happy, fun, sexy times are coming down the line for the future, which definitely makes it sound like the relationship survives. We think that Arizona will find away to live life without her leg and, in doing so, will start being her old self again.

What do you think: Will Calzona survive the season?
