For some unfathomable, cruel reason, Grey's Anatomy Season 9, Episode 17: "Transplant Wasteland" won't air until March 14. Of course, having a wait just gives us extra time to think about what we want to see happen when show returns, especially now that the lawsuit plotline is finally resolved.
Here are four things we're really hoping to see in Episode 17, or sometime soon thereafter.
The fallout around Jackson. Episode 16 ended with a twist: Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) is now a member of the hospital's Board, representing the majority shareholder. We fully expect to see the implications of that explored, ASAP.
First of all, we want to know what it actually means, on a practical level. How much control does he have? And, more interestingly, we want to know how Jackson will react, and how it will change his relationship to the other docs, especially those that are older than him. Is he going to throw his weight around? Shy away from responsibility? Feel cut off and ostracized? Enquiring minds can't wait to find out.
Alex and the lawsuit docs. Alex (Justin Chambers) has been spending so much time with Jo (Camilla Luddington) this season that we feel like he's been a bit cut off from the other main cast members. However, during Episode 16 he made it clear that he was pissed at Mer (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandra Oh), and co. for seemingly leaving the hospital in a lurch. Obviously, things worked out in the end, but will Alex readily forgive his friends for totally cutting him out of the loop? We think it would be more interesting if it took a little while for those wounds to heal.
Callie/Arizona time. As we recently discussed in depth, many Calzona fans feel like the couple has been given the short end of the stick this season, and we would tend to agree. Now that the lawsuit plotline — and all of the arguments that went with it — is resolved, it's high time we see more happy, intimate moments between this couple.
Owen/Cristina confront their issues. OK, this one we don't feel as urgent a need to see addressed right away. But at some point in the not too distant future we would like to see Cristina and Owen (Kevin McKidd) come down out of dreamland and try to figure out exactly what they're doing, as a couple.
