On Grey's Anatomy Season 9, Episode 3: “Love the One You’re With”, the plane crash survivors are offered an enormous amount of money for their pain and suffering following the plane’s mid-flight failure.

Callie (Sara Ramirez), who is present at the initial meeting, along with Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), tells a despondent Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) about the offer, and seems excited to take it. She even says that it’s what Mark (Eric Dane) would have wanted. But Arizona isn’t feeling quite as sunny.

At this point, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) is the only one who doesn’t think they should take the settlement, and Arizona hasn’t said anything. Instead, she’s berating Callie at home, badgering her about making the decision to amputate her leg when Arizona couldn’t make it herself. She even yells at Callie, when Sofia starts crying, “I think Mark would want you to pick up his daughter when she starts crying. But I guess she’ll have to learn to deal with disappointment, too.”

Eventually, Callie comes home to find Arizona on the floor, sitting in her own urine. She couldn’t make it to the bathroom on her own. Callie forces her into the shower, and they have a breakthrough moment when Callie bursts into angry tears. Arizona looks hopeful, because she can see that Callie is in (almost) as much pain as she is.

They’ve crossed a major bridge, at least now they’re finally on the same side.
