Rumors are starting to swirl about the Grey's Anatomy Season 9 finale, with every fan looking for any hint of spoilers. One idea that rapidly spread around the web yesterday is that a female Grey's character is going to get cancer. Where does that rumor come from, and, more importantly, is it true?

Yesterday, E! released a spoiler-ific blind item about a big show's season finale, which will apparently feature two fan-fave couple reunions, a couple getting back together after the guy saves the girl's life, and a main, female character being diagnosed with cancer.

E! gave a list of 10 shows these spoilers could apply to, and Grey's was included as a possibility. Process of elimination led many fans to conclude that the hospital drama was actually one of the most likely of the candidates to pack that much drama into a finale (other plausible options include Glee and 90210).

However, Grey's showrunner Shonda Rhimes debunked that theory on Twitter yesterday, March 26. A fan asked her if a female character is getting cancer on Grey's and Shonda replied pretty definitively, "Nope. That is not happening."

Whew! We've already been down that road with Izzie (Katherine Heigl), and we didn't like the idea of having to deal with that pain again.
