Grey’s Anatomy knows how to break our hearts, and according to the synopsis for the Season 9 finale (Episode 24: “Perfect Storm”), we’re going to need at least half a dozen boxes of tissues to get through the intense hour.

This year, we’ll have a two-part finale, with Episode 23: “Readiness Is All” showing the preparation for Seattle’s superstorm, and it hitting — and sending everyone into crisis mode — in “Perfect Storm.” While we’re worried about scarce resources, the patient overflow, and the power outage that will happen in Episode 24, we’re most worried about the final line of the synopsis: “Meanwhile, one of the doctors fights for their life.”

With so many doctors on the show and death so frequent on Grey’s, we’re worried. Anyone’s life could be hanging in the balance after such a storm, and we know that in the first part of the finale, "One wrong move puts the lives of Meredith and her baby in jeopardy." Gulp.

Based on that, we have to assume that Meredith is fighting for her life, but that seems too predictable. In fact, almost everyone on Grey’s has had a near-death experience at this time between the shooting, the bomb, and the plane crash (among other tragic experiences).

Our guess is that if it isn’t related to Meredith and her baby, it is either something mundane with the interns or dealing with Chief Owen Hunt and the Ethan, the nearly-orphaned little boy he’s been looking after. Granted, it could be with a doctor less affected by the previous tragedies, such as Jackson, April, or Richard to spice up the show and their storylines, but we’re unsure. April deals with trauma and could run into a particularly bad situation, and let’s be honest — they could go for a heart attack or other major illness or injury for Richard, as he’s currently the oldest doctor on staff.

There are dozens of scenarios and possible doctors in danger, but who do you think will “fight for their life”? Leave your predictions below!
