The details of the Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 finale have been kept firmly under lock and key, but little by little, a few spoilers have leaked. The latest one not only goes along with the general theme of the show’s intense finales, but confirms something that we’ve been worrying about all season: a disaster.

On the heels of news that the docs will be “in over their heads” when machines (specifically ventilators) stop working in the finale, Zap2it reports that this is all caused by a power outage.

“This time, a power outage puts everyone in a terrible position — but none so precarious as the babies in the NICU,” the site writes. “The doctors, outnumbered by the babies who need to be ventilated, have no choice but to teach the new parents to breathe for their newborns.”

This explains why the Grey Sloan Memorial staff calls upon the “patients’ frantic loved ones” for help, but now that we know it is babies in danger, it makes the situation even more terrifying and disastrous.

However, if this is the big disaster of the finale, it doesn’t sound like any of our favorite doctors are in danger. That is, unless one of them stumbles around in the dark and runs into someone dangerous, which we wouldn’t rule out. Given that this is a two-part finale, much could happen in the other parts of the episode, so we won’t hold our breath for a happy ending for anyone.

What do you think about the power outage storyline: too tame or an interesting twist? Sound off below.
