There is only one episode standing between us and the Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 finale, and this week’s episode will introduce us to the crisis we already know our favorite doctors will be facing in the final episode. We’re hearing tons of spoilers as the finale gets closer, which we usually love... but now we’re starting to worry what they could mean for Meredith and her baby.

We already know that at the end of this week’s episode, Meredith will go into labor. Which already makes us a little nervous, since we know the superstorm we’ve been promised will have already hit. And in the promo for this week’s episode, we see her falling down the stairs, which can’t mean anything good for her or the baby.

Creator Shonda Rhimes has already warned us that “We will see a doctor fighting for their life. We will leave the season with someone fighting for their life.” Could this mean both Meredith and the baby’s lives will be in jeopardy? Possibly, especially since Shonda’s also mentioned that Mer’s fall will set events into action that are a “cause for concern.” We have a bad feeling the season finale cliffhanger might leave us wondering all summer if Meredith and McBaby are okay.

Shonda has also said to expect a lot of “emotional death,” which might not actually mean real death. It could just mean some serious drama surrounding the baby’s birth, which could make for an awesome episode... as long as the baby survives, that is. Meredith’s pregnancy has been pretty much flawless until now, and we know that on Grey’s, when something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Especially for Meredith, who can never seem to do anything the easy way!

Do you think Meredith’s baby will make it? We hope so — she and Derek have already had so much trouble in the baby-making department, and Zola’s adoption was so stressful for them. After all that, they deserve a perfect, healthy baby, and we would hate to see anything but a happy ending to Mer’s pregnancy.
