It’s been a tough season for Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) with his hand recovery taking longer than he initially expected, but in Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 12: “Walking on a Dream,” he was back in the OR saving lives and taking names. Similar to her hubby, newly pregnant Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is also dominating her fears, taking on a difficult case and even getting on a plane (!) to retrieve an organ.

It sure looks like life is almost perfect for the pregnant-and-happy couple, but with Mer and Der, we know nothing lasts forever — or even for a week! So, we’ve rounded up all of the Meredith and Derek relationship spoilers this episode (and yes, that includes those about McBaby!) to give you the scoop on whether or not Meredith can finally find happiness that lasts.

Now that they’re kicking ass in their careers, the two definitely have the time to focus on Zola and the new McBaby. Although the promos for Season 9 Episode 13: “Bad Blood” suggest that the baby may be in danger, Shonda Rhimes insists that our fears (and Mer’s) are unfounded and that Meredith is finally starting to see that this good thing can really happen to her! “We have a lovely storyline planned, and I think it's going to be very beautiful for Meredith and Derek,” Shonda tells TVLine.

We’re also starting to see the pair get up to their old break room shenanigans, sneaking in a quickie when Meredith’s hormones allow! In “Walking on a Dream,” not only did we learn that pregnancy hormones are no joke, but also that there are benefits, like her over-the-top sex drive, and major downsides, like a newfound ability to cry on a dime.

Still, seems like only a matter of time before Meredith’s hormones turn on Derek — and after all, Seattle Grace-Mercy West’s favorite couple never remain conflict-free for long. Let’s just hope that the two can weather the storm now that things are going their way professionally!

To find out the fate of McBaby, be sure catch the next new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
