Grey's Anatomy Season 8 ended with most characters' fates up in the air. However, one doc who we know is safe, sound, and planning on staying at Seattle Grace-Mercy West is Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr). But that doesn't mean we're not interested in thinking about what will happen to our favorite ex-Chief.
So here are some things we're hoping to see from Richard during Season 9.
More drama with Adele: Shonda Rhimes has hinted that she might want to revisit the Adele storyline, and we certainly think there is a lot more drama to be mined from Adele's deteriorating health and even her potential death.
Helping the others cope: We're really interested to see how Lexie's (Chyler Leigh) death and the crash will affect Richard. We expect to see him very shaken by it, but we also hope he can hold himself together and be a shoulder for others to cry on.
Some happiness: That said, Richard deserves some happiness. We liked his interactions with Jackson's (Jesse Williams) mom, and would love to see some more of that relationship if possible — especially because Catherine Avery is fantastic and it would make Jackson feel hilariously awkward.
More mentoring: One of our favorite Richard moments last season was when he was giving Alex (Justin Chambers) advice on how to negotiate for a better job offer. More of that, please!
