TV Guide reports that Dominic Hoffman will be joining the cast as a doctor who we'll see at Seattle Grace-Mercy West for "at least one episode." Dominic has a long TV resume that includes shows like A Different World, The Mentalist, The Shield, and the original hospital classic, St. Elsewhere.

Our question is: where does Dominic's character fit into the hospital hierarchy? Could he be Teddy's (Kim Raver) replacement in cardio? A specialist brought in to deal with Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) hand, Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) leg, or just a patient of the week? As TV Guide points out, he definitely seems too old to be one of the new interns, though it might be interesting to have a character who started his medical career later in life.
