Now that Grey's Anatomy Season 9 is less than two weeks away (it premieres September 27), it's time to once again take stock of the many new characters we know of.

To start, here are the notable casting notices we know of:

Dr. Parker: “a top-of-his-game physician in his 40s or 50s”
Dr. Mel Barnett: “slightly younger” doctor. According to an ABC press release about the Season 9 premiere, he is played by Philip Casnoff.
Male medical professional: “smart,” “not Hollywood handsome”
Female medical professional: “smart,” “not Hollywood pretty”
Female patient: “girl-next-door pretty”
Another doctor: A mid-40s male doc who's a "genuinely good guy" and will be in more than one episode.

And these are the actors who have confirmed roles in the new season:

Camilla Luddington will be playing a "young doctor," named Josephine. She currently has a recurring role, with the potential to become a regular. Will she be one of the interns Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) end up teaching in their new role as attendings?

Gaius Charles has an as-yet undescribed recurring role. According to a press release about the Season 9 premiere, he is playing a character named "Shane."

Steven Culp has a recurring role as a  "top dog doctor," though whether he'll work at Seattle Grace-Mercy West or elsewhere is not yet known. According to the Season 9 premiere press release, he plays Dr. Parker.

Jerrika Hinton has been cast in a recurring role as an intern named Stephanie.

Dominic Hoffman will play a doc who sticks around Seattle Grace-Mercy West for "at least one episode." Could he be the "good guy" doctor?

Tina Majorino has been cast in a top-secret role. Do you think she could be the girl-next-door pretty patient? From the Season 9 premiere press release, we know her character is named Heather.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 will premiere on Thursday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
