As soon as Owen (Kevin McKidd) learned Seattle Grace-Mercy West is at risk of going bankrupt, fans immediately started to wonder if Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), and Cristina (Sandra Oh) might donate some of their millions to save the hospital.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes recently weighed in on this possibility, and it turns out things might not be so simple.

"It's going to take more money than they have," Shonda dished to TV Guide.
But ... isn't the entire problem the money the hospital had to pay out to the docs? Whatever.
Shonda did admit that the docs involved will have "sense of guilt," but that they also, understandably, "feel entirely justified for getting this settlement for what happened to them."
Whatever happens, Shonda assured fans that "the fate of the hospital is going to come around in very unexpected ways ... saving it is not going to be as easy as anybody thinks."
Not only that, but we'll learn that Dr. Cahill has more on her mind than just cutting costs — the docs are going to learn that "cost-cutting measures are the least of their problems."
