Grey's Anatomy is known for its big event episodes. Ferry crashes. Plane crashes. Car crashes. Lots of crashes (and also sometimes gunmen). Is there another disaster headed Seattle Grace-Mercy West's way?

Rumors have been swirling that Season 9, Episode 19: "Can't Fight This Feeling" will feature an earthquake that leaves the docs with a difficult medical case. Are these reports accurate, or is this another case of the internet getting ahead of itself? Showrunner Shonda Rhimes recently weighed in on Twitter.

On February 22, Shonda tweeted at a distressed fan that "there are no earthquakes planned" for Grey's.

When another fan noted that earthquakes are "rarely 'planned'" Shonda repeated for emphasis, "When writers write them, they are planned. Because, you know, they'd be fake. AND WE ARE NOT PLANNING ANY EARTHQUAKES."

Whelp, unless Shonda is plain lying to cover up a plot twist, that seems like a pretty definitive "no" to the earthquake rumors.

In fact, those of you who are tired of the extreme death and destruction at Seattle Grace-Mercy West should be happy to know that, as of now, Shonda and her fellow writers are planning to avoid another major catastrophe during this season's finale.
