Judging from the sneak peeks and previews for tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy (Season 8, Episode 16: “If Only You Were Lonely”), it’s clear that Richard (James Pickens, Jr.) will be dealing with some sadness regarding his wife Adele’s increasingly worrying Alzheimer’s — but, as James tells TVGuide.com, things are going to get much worse than we could have imagined.

“It’s obvious now that the Alzheimer’s is making her a danger to herself and possibly others,” he says. “We have something coming up that really brings the seriousness of her condition to the floor and forces him to act right away."

Just in case you’re thinking that the preview clip we posted yesterday was the “something” James is referring to, think again. TVGuide.com reports that there will be “incidents — yes, that’s plural.” Richard will finally realize that he can no longer leave his wife alone.

"He still loves Adele very deeply,” says James. “He doesn't want to think about the possibility that there may have to be some other options made in terms of her living arrangements and her being cared for.”

And Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) idea to put Adele in the same care center that her mother, and Richard’s true love, went to — Rose Ridge — won’t go over smoothly. "No convincing by Meredith is going to make Richard OK with putting Adele in a home,” James says.

We’re nervous to see what these “incidents” entail, and we’re pretty sure tonight is going to be a major Kleenex night.
