There are many reasons that Grey's Anatomy’s Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) is oh-so-Dreamy, but we’re betting that it all dates back to the fact that he grew up with four sisters. The man knows how to deal with women … and hair.

We’ve already met two of the “other” Shepherds, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Nancy (Embeth Davitz), and now, it looks like the third sister, Liz (Neve Campbell), is going to stick with family tradition when we meet her in the Dec. 6 episode (Season 9, Episode 8: “Love Turns You Upside Down”) ... so to speak.

TVLine recently spoke to Neve about her upcoming multi-episode arc as Liz Shepherd, and she revealed just enough info to keep us interested. OK, we were already interested. Turns out, Liz is just like her other siblings in one particular way … medicine. Liz Shepherd is also, perhaps not surprisingly, a doctor. What kind of doctor is another question. Amelia and Derek both went the neuro route, so perhaps Liz will bring something new to the table?

Regardless of her specialty, according to Neve, Liz’s arrival has everything to do with Derek’s hand and his potential attempts to have it repaired. So maybe this really is why she and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) butt heads.

And it turns out that Meredith might not be the only person that Liz butts heads with. Neve says that Liz and Derek “do get along … to an extent.” From what we’ve seen in the past, Derek loves his sisters, but he loves them in very short, very planned visits.

So perhaps Liz won’t always be welcomed with open arms, but Neve, on the other hand, talked about how her experience on the show was exactly the opposite: “They’ve been on that show for nine years and they definitely know what they’re doing, so it was fun to be around a group that had been working together so long.”

Are you excited for another Shepherd woman to hit Seattle? Which sister has been your favorite so far? And where is that pesky fourth one? Can you imagine the hair at a full-fledged Shepherd reunion? We’re not sure our egos (or hair products) could take it.
