We’ve reported on the upcoming Private Practice/Grey’s Anatomy crossover episode before, and now we finally have details on what to expect. Let’s just say that you’ll want to prepare for an entire evening of PP/Grey’s goodness.

In Grey’s Anatomy Season 8, Episode 15: “Have You Seen Me Lately,” Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) troubled sister Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will make a surprise visit to Seattle Grace, appealing for help with a gliosarcoma case. What is that, you ask? Well, it’s a rare type of cancer, where the supportive brain cells become malignant (rather than the more common neural cells). Naturally, Dr. Shepherd is the only man for the job.

Immediately afterwards, Private Practice will continue to advance the story. We’ll see Amelia’s patient Erica arrive at Seattle Grace, where Derek, Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and Amelia are preparing for surgery — the kind of surgery described as “very risky.”

How do you feel about Derek’s sister? Do you think she causes him unnecessary distress and hardship, or do you think family ties are more important than any interpersonal disagreements? Whichever side you’re on, we’ll get a full two hours of evidence to dissect. Happy watching!

Watch an all-new Grey’s Anatomy (the alternate reality episode!) on Thursday, February 2 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC.
