It looks like the residents of Seattle Grace-Mercy West are having a hard time laissez-ing les bons temps rouler, but who said passing boards would be easy? Grey's Anatomy Season 8, Episode 22: “Let the Bad Times Roll” (airing May 3, just two weeks away from the season finale!), the fifth years will not-so-patiently await the results of their oral boards. Fun fact: Cristina’s (Sandra Oh) examiner will be played by none other than St. Elsewhere's William Daniels!

According to an ABC press release, Jackson’s (Jesse Williams) mom Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) returns to Grey's this episode to let Richard (James Pickens Jr.) know that one of the residents has failed his or her boards. Dun dun DUN. This wasn't pretty when George (TR Knight) failed his intern exam and we're sure it won't be any easier to watch this time around.

Meanwhile, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) winds up running into a childhood friend who comes into the hospital seeking medical attention. Due to previous spoilers, we assume that this will be played by Jordan Belfi or Entourage fame.

And, CalSloanZona will experience another shakeup when Julia propositions Mark (Eric Dane) to start a family. What?! Okay, if this doesn't finally shove Mark and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) together for the season, we don't know what will. Have we even seen Julia in the past few episodes? We assumed she died or something.

Finally, because we need some sort of kooky medical mystery/disaster, some of the docs will be working on a patient who is missing a third of his skull. So, that sounds like fun. Paging Dr. Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), much?

Also: Kevin McKidd is directing!

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
