According to the numbers, Grey's Anatomy Season 8 has been a smashing success in recent weeks. Season 8, Episode 8: “Heart-Shaped Box” made Grey's Thursday's #1 drama in the most important demos, and Season 8, Episode 9, "Dark Was the Night" was up 14 percent from that.  For those not deeply familiar with the intricate TV rating's system, let's just say that's a really, really good thing for the show.

We know people have been watching, but have they been enjoying what they're seeing? Obviously, many people are  — 85 percent percent of our readers gave "Dark Was the Night" 4+/5 stars  — but these days there are definitely some loud critics amongst the show's former fans.

Variety's Brian Lowry, a long-time fan, recently took to the page to express the disappointment some fans are feeling.

"The episodes have been piling up on the DVR, and I don't find myself looking forward to watching them," Brain complains. "I tried zapping through them — cutting out boring-looking subplots — but that's even less satisfying than skipping them entirely." The magic is gone for Brian, and from what we've heard in the vast sounding board that is the internet, he's not alone.

Personally, we think Grey's had a major resurgence last season, and while Season 8 hasn't been perfect, we're hooked. Still, after eight seasons, some people just plain lose interest, and that's understandable. However, as long as the numbers stay good, you can be pretty sure there will be more seasons of Grey's to come.

Where do you stand?
