Kate Walsh's inspiration for her new fragrance, Boyfriend, came from a likely source — an ex-boyfriend. But how did that turn into her own perfume? Despite reservations about putting yet another celebrity fragrance on the market, Kate felt there was something significant missing from women's fragrances. While finding some retail therapy shopping in New York after a breakup, Kate realized she missed her ex-boyfriend's scent. What's more, she couldn't find a women's perfume that had a touch of that yummy boy smell.
"I was like, 'I'm going to go get a men's fragrance, I don't care. I don't have to have a boyfriend to have boyfriend scent,'" says Walsh of her craving. (A prime example of the sound logic behind post-breakup decisions.)
Thus, Boyfriend was born.
"Everybody has a boyfriend story, and I felt like all women could relate to it," she explains. "And then, I couldn't find what I was looking for, which was this combination of masculine and feminine, so I made it!"
Let that be a lesson. Good break up decision: design a perfume line. Bad break up decision: sleep with your ex-husband's best friend. Just saying, Addison...
