Katherine Heigl and her momager, Nancy, are producing a TV-movie adaptation of Ann Hood's bestselling novel The Knitting Circle, starring Katherine Heigl as the main character — basically, a mom who snaps back to reality after the death of her daughter through a knitting circle. HBO Films picked up the flick, so the Grey's Anatomy alum will officially be making her return to the small screen (sort of...if an HBO film counts as the small screen). Craig Wright, who created Dirty Sexy Money and wrote for Six Feet Under, will pen the screenplay.
No word yet on director or co-stars, but do you think Katherine will bust out her signature divatude on a project she's producing, too? She and Mama Heigl will be the bosses, at least, in the financial sense. Will no one escape her whining, bad attitude, and smack talk to the press? Or, do you think this sounds like the perfect project A) to break Heigl out of her stupid romcom starlet rut (sorry, was that judgy?) and B) with which to make a graceful return to TV?
