Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) put herself back in the center of the Grey's Anatomy spotlight recently by turning her One for the Money promotional tour into a "I want to return to Grey's Anatomy" tour. From speculating about Izzie's fate to admitting she's jealous of Alex Karev's (Justin Chambers) new love interests, Katherine has made if clear that she's ready and willing to step back onto the Grey's set.
The question is: Does anyone want her back? We've rounded up the responses — on the record and rumored — to Katherine's proposition so far:
Pro-return: On Team Katherine we have Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), who called Katherine "family," and said they'd "fall right back into the same groove" if she came back.
And now we can add Patrick Dempsey to this column. He recently told Access Hollywood that Katherine's departure was "a great loss to the show," and stated that "She’s a wonderful actress and I would always welcome her back, certainly.”
Anti-return: So far, no one has stated on the record that they don't want Katherine to return, but the resounding silence from the Grey's Anatomy writers and ABC execs speaks volumes. Plus, industry insiders say her general Hollywood reputation is not good, to put it lightly.
Furthermore, a source close to the show told Entertainment Weekly that the chance of Katherine's return "doesn’t look good." Ouch.
Will she come back? For now, we'll have to wait and see.
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET/PT on ABC.
