Move over Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo. You're not the only Grey's Anatomy stars with philanthropic causes. Kevin McKidd, better known to Grey's fans as our favorite ginger trauma attending, Dr. Owen Hunt, has recently been named spokesperson for World Pneumonia Day. November 12th is the day designated by Save the Children to raise awareness of the fact the the number one killer of children in developing countries isn't HIV/AIDS or Malaria, but Pneumonia. The disease is highly preventable and treatable, and Kevin McKidd reaches out to charitable hearts to "become a Pneumonia fighter and help save a child's life today."
Watch the video here, if for no other reason, to check out McKidd's super-sexy Scottish accent. It will both make you marvel at the accuracy of the American accent he pulls off for the show, and make you furious that Grey's writers forced him to play an American character when he had such a delicious au naturel accent to work with.
