Meredith Grey Is Lost in the Wilderness, but at Least Ellen Pompeo Had a Fun Date! (PHOTOS)

We may have seen Ellen Pompeo's character, Meredith Grey, endure a plane crash, head injuries, her sister's death, and the sight of her husband's wounded arm on the Grey's Anatomy Season 8 finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight"), but hey, at least Ellen's enjoying herself IRL!

The on-screen doc and her husband Chris Ivery took a night off from being mommy and daddy to hit up a LA Lakers game together over the weekend. The happy couple sat courtside, chatting and laughing up a storm. Now that's the state of mind we like to see Ellen in!

Oh wait, Meredith and the rest of the characters from the crash are still stuck in the middle of nowhere and we won't know who survives until the show returns. There goes our fleeting moment of happiness after seeing Ellen on date night. Sigh.

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return to Thursdays at 9 p.m. with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
