Patrick Dempsey Sings and Dances Behind the Scenes of Grey's Anatomy
In Season 7, Episode 18: “Song Beneath a Song,” (aka, the musical episode) Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) was noticeably silent when it came to Grey's Anatomy characters bursting into song. But it turns out the decision to exclude him from the soundtrack was probably not due to a fear of performing.
In an interview with Grey's guest star and director Debbie Allen (Dr. Avery), the star of 1980s TV sensation Fame, revealed some behind-the-scenes song-and-dance gossip that made us smile. She tells Parade, “The first day on set, Patrick Dempsey saw me and he jumped out and started jumping around and kicking his legs and starting singing 'Fame.'”
Do we smell a potential theater role for Patrick in the future? Maybe not, but a guest spot on Glee, playing Mr. Schue’s (Matthew Morrison) older brother or a rival singing group coach, sounds just right.
