Grey's Anatomy has had its fair share of behind-the-scenes controversy over the past nine seasons. And one of the most famous examples was Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) dissing the show by not submitting herself for Emmy consideration in 2008 and saying that she wasn't "given the material to warrant a nomination."

In her upcoming appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter, airing on OWN this Sunday (Dec 9), Shonda Rhimes finally opens up about the incident.

TVLine has a sneak peek of the interview, and in it Shonda reveals that "on some level" Katherine's words "stung." On the other hand, Shonda also says she wasn't entirely surprised: "When people show you who they are, believe them."

Is it just us, or does that sound like a major diss?

Earlier this year, Katherine made it clear she'd like to reprise her role on the show, but Shonda basically said "no thanks." After this interview, it seems even more unlikely that Katherine will ever return.
