Other than some vague mention of "Chasing Cars" and "How To Save a Life," which we all speculated would get nods once we heard the musical ep was using iconic Grey's songs, we haven't heard much about the rest of the song list — until now.
We'll give you our favorite detail first: they're bringing back the theme song! That plinky tune that played while trays of scalpels cut to trays of eyelash curlers is Psapp's "Cosy in the Rocket" and it'll be used in an "interesting way," dished Sara Ramirez. "Not at all how you might expect." Our guess? A cappella.
Sara Ramirez, Kevin McKidd, and Chandra Wilson will helm the "Chasing Cars" track, while Sara and the female cast will croon Kate Havnevik's "Grace" (which played when Denny died).
Chyler Leigh snags a solo of her own, singing Anna Nalick's "Breathe (2AM)."
And before you go hating on the concept of a Grey's Anatomy musical, know that the stars were in the same boat, and they've changed their tune. "Ellen Pompeo was very much like, 'Tell me we're not going to sing and dance in the hall. This is crazy!'" dishes Shonda Rhimes on the actress' gut reaction. But, after the first read-through, says Shonda, "[She] came up to me and said, 'I never say I'm wrong, but I was wrong and I want to sing more!' She's having so much fun with it." Patrick Dempsey has even been heard nicknaming the episode "Glee M.D.," which may or may not have caused every single person who ever was or is on Grey's, including the camera guys to come out in droves assuring us in a panic that IT'S NOT GONNA BE LIKE GLEE.
Got that, guys? It's not Glee.
Oh, and, incidentally, Shonda's itching to use Taye Diggs' talents in a Private Practice musical episode next season. Just a heads up.
