Shonda Rhimes admits the musical episode of Grey's Anatomy she's writing isn't going to be like the Scrubs musical, nor will it be anything like the Buffy musical. “The comparisons to other musical episodes are too great, and we wanted it to be different,” she said in a recent interview. Well, at least she's being realistic. “Nobody is going to be dancing and singing down the halls; that’s not our show. Our show is known for its music. I very much wanted to do something that was musical without being a musical,” she adds. Shonda has also dished that the episode will obviously be a Callie-heavy storyline, as she's the big Broadway star of the bunch.

"Part of the way I figured out that we could do this was to take the songs that our show has made iconic and have them be sung by our cast members," says Rhimes. Are we to assume that means Callie will mournfully be crooning "How To Save a Life" or "Chasing Cars" whilst wallowing over Arizona? Because those are MerDer songs, and Calzona can't have them!
