As the Shondaland logo would attest, love is a roller coaster. But some rides are short and forgettable; while the ups, downs, twists, and turns of others are the stuff of legend. Here are the seven relationships on Grey's Anatomy that have kept us thrilled (and, yes, sometimes screaming) over the past eight years.

7. Teddy and Henry
Teddy (Kim Raver) was never a character we imagined having one of the most interesting and compelling love stories of Season 8. And we certainly never thought we'd see her on this list. But holy cow, were we blindsided by the agony and ecstasy of her "marriage" to Henry. The two of them charmed the hell out of us — so we were hoping and, frankly, expecting Henry to make a full recovery under the auspices of the Seattle Grace docs. We were wrong, and it nearly wrecked us.

6. Richard and Adele
Richard (James Pickens Jr.) and Adele had one of the most enduring relationships of the show, and perhaps the most tragic. Their relationship spanned decades, but by the time Richard realized how good he had it, Adele was already starting to sink into dementia. Then, Richard had to grasp any indication that she recognized him and the love they shared — but eventually, he realized that loving her meant letting her go.

5. Mark and Lexie

Good thing Mark (Eric Dane) ignored Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) command to stay away from "Little Grey" (Chyler Leigh). The experienced man-whore and the brainiac ingénue might not have seemed like the most likely couple, but they turned out to be the couple we all rooted for, even amidst their endless breakups. She was a casualty of the plane crash, yes, but theirs was a love not even death is likely to end.

4. Alex and Izzie
From one of the most improbable relationships to one that made the most sense,  Alex (Justin Chambers) and Izzie seemed truly destined for each other. She was outspoken, he was a spark plug; she was a rule-breaker, he was a rebel; she was libidinous, he couldn't keep it in his pants. Cue the sexual pyrotechnics. But the relationship was also remarkably sweet and romantic, too, until it flamed out in miscommunications and hurt feelings.

3. Callie and Arizona
Callie (Sara Ramirez) coming out was the best thing that ever happened to her. She's no longer living in the hospital basement, in a hotel room, or (gasp) with Cristina (Sandra Oh). She has reached new heights in her career (even if she wasn't a stellar Chief Resident). But, best of all, she has a beautiful baby and an amazingly supportive, sweet, and sexy wife named Arizona (Jessica Capshaw).

2. Cristina and Owen
Forget Burke. Forget Teddy. The past is prologue, and the exes are irrelevant. There's only one soulmate for Cristina and only one for Owen (Kevin McKidd). Nevermind love triangles and wayward bullets and baby controversy (and projectile cereal). Whether or not their orbits are aligned, they're always gravitating toward one another, and their chemistry is just as astronomic.

1. Meredith and Derek
The meet-cute. The one-night-stand. The tail-wagon sex. The ex-wife entrance. The prom sex. The Puget rescue. The house of candles. The elevator love letter. The Post-it wedding. The Zola. Only ten of the many memorable moments in the relationship of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey), and only ten of the many reasons why they are the original power couple of Grey's and possibly the power couple of the television decade.

What's your take, Grey's fans? Who did we snub? Shocked that a certain Duquette isn't on the list? Wondering where the heck George is? Thinking that Addison/Derek deserves a place on this list? (How dare you!) Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return to Thursdays at 9 p.m. with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
