As we pointed out last night, the highly-anticipated (and feared) death on the Grey's Anatomy Season 8 finale (Season 8, Episode 24, "Flight") came much sooner than most expected. Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) passed away after getting crushed by plane debris and, as we predicted, she and Mark (Eric Dane) exchanged heartfelt confessions of love, as she slowly closed her eyes forever.

Given the amount of buzz surrounding the finale, some immediate reactions around the web involved disappointment, and a general sense of feeling underwhelmed. Was the episode as shocking as we were promised? Show creator Shonda Rhimes and other cast members had said that we could expect a major season-ending cliffhanger in which many of the main characters were “in jeopardy.” But are they, really?

We know that the many of the stars are signed on for Season 9 already, so we can safely assume that the plane crash survivors Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), and Mark — will be found by a search committee. Derek may never regain the use of his million dollar surgical hand. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) has a “secret” to tell the residents. Teddy’s (Kim Raver) gone for good. But we didn’t feel like Season 8 closed with lots of unanswered questions.

So it’s your turn to tell us: Were you satisfied or disappointed with the finale? Vote in our poll to share your opinion!

Miss Grey’s? Us too. Luckily the show will return with all-new episodes in the fall on ABC.
