It’s hard to believe that it was nine years ago that Grey's Anatomy and all of its many love triangles entered our lives. But how much longer will we get to enjoy all of the quirky patients, complicated marriages, and nail-biting surgeries?

Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) recently talked to Latina Magazine about the rarity of the show’s success, her happiness, and the future of Seattle Grace-Mercy West.

It’s nine years later, and people are still glued to their television screens. So how do they do it? According to Sara, it’s about keeping things fresh and new. “I love talking about how different this year feels, because it does…it feels different. I feel really proud of the show. And proud to work with everybody that I work with,” she said.

The fact that it’s so rare for a television drama to be around for this long is not lost on Sara. However, thinking about the end only makes her appreciate the present.

“I think about it all of the time," she admitted. "Security and stability is very rare for an artist ... So I’m just focusing on being grateful and taking it in right now, you know, because it could end ... any minute.”

We don’t like the sound of the show ending any minute. After everything we’ve been through with these characters, we certainly hope we get more closure than that. Luckily, Sara can see that happening as well: “So, if it goes years, it’ll be years. If it goes a year it’ll be a year. [Laughs] I’m not saying it’s easy, but you kind of, you have to let go of the outcome.”

She’s not kidding. We think we’re a little more freaked out about Grey’s ending than Sara is. The good news is that the current contracts of Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd), Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), Sandra Oh(Cristina Yang), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) last another year (aka through Season 10).

As fans of the show, the least we can do is enjoy it while it lasts, right? Right. We’ll see you Thursday. And then, hopefully, for many Thursdays after that.

Catch the next new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, December 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
