Grey's Anatomy has been picked up for an eighth season, but it may be the last for our oldest and dearest docs, including the title character. Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, among a few other Grey's veterans will see the end of their contracts once Season 8 wraps. Now, of course, they always have the option of renewing, but Ellen Pompeo seems pretty resistant.

She's not leaving anytime soon, but the closest thing the series has to a main character doesn't seem to have much interest in sticking around after next season. "I haven't said that I'm moving on," she claims. "I said that when my contract is up after season 8, I would probably not renew [it]." So, uh, that's exactly what you mean.

Can Grey's survive without MerDer? Or will Shonda Rhimes work some magic and get the two to stay on for just one more season? Vote now: Would You Watch Grey's Without Ellen Pompeo?
