Bet you didn't know... Tommy, Kevin's Trainspotting character, was the only main character not featured in the poster campaign — Kevin went on holiday straight after filming and missed the photo-shoot!

Scottish actor Kevin McKidd has a diverse body of work spanning a broad range of genres and mediums. This may come as a surprise, but you can also add "aspiring rock star" to Kevin's resume. The Grey's hunk was part of a rock band called Plan 9 as a teenager, which launched him to success... in Scotland, at least. He also performed in the Moray Youth Theatre, and then with the University of Edinburgh's Bedlam Theatre Company (he was studying at the university as a engineering student). His first major role was in the Wild Cat Theatre Company stage play, The Silver Darlings, which garnered him a Gulliver Award for his performance. After moving to the United States, Kevin landed a role in the cult success Trainspotting, in which he played a drug-addicted athlete. The critically acclaimed film helped Kevin snag roles in Hideous Kinky, Topsy-Turvy, and 16 Years of Alcohol. The latter earned him British Independent Film and BAFTA Award nominations.

From 2005 to 2007, he played one of the primary protagonists in HBO's Rome, a short-lived — but lauded — series. In 2007, Kevin nabbed the lead in Journeyman, a sci-fi series, but ABC canceled the show after the first season. Fortunately, this allowed Kevin to join the cast of Grey's Anatomy as war veteran and trauma surgeon Owen Hunt. Kevin and his wife, Jane Parker, have two children, Joseph and Iona. Even if Owen gets shipped back to the Middle East, we think we'll be seeing more of Kevin McKidd!
