Native New Yorker Kim Raver is no TV neophyte — she's been working in television for her entire life! Her very first appearance was as a small child on Sesame Street, which she says was basically "paid child care, and my mom also got enough money to put me through private school in New York." Kim attended Boston University before returning to New York to stake her claim on Broadway. Back in New York, she met her husband, French filmmaker Manuel Boyer, whom she married in 2000. The couple has two children, Luke (born in 2002) and Leo (born in 2007).
Kim's television career has only grown more prolific, from her appearance on the Darren Star vehicle Central Park West to Third Watch, 24, The Nine, and Lipstick Jungle. In 2009, Kim appeared in Shonda Rhimes's pilot Inside the Box, which was not picked up by ABC. Shortly thereafter, ABC cast her in Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Teddy Altman, a doctor who stirs up trouble for Owen Hunt and Cristina Yang. If Shonda gave Kim the role as a consolation prize, Kim's certainly turned lemons into lemonade: for the seventh season, Kim upgraded to a series regular!
