We're all on pins and needles waiting for Preston Burke to reappear on Grey's Anatomy at the end of Season 10; and that's what exactly what his portrayer, Isaiah Washington, discussed last night, April 1, on The Arsenio Hall Show.
Arsenio asked the 50-year-old if Burke's return is related to Cristina's (Sandra Oh) exit, and Isaiah confirmed that the two are indeed related: "That's what I can discuss. She is leaving this season. Shonda has asked me not to really give up all the grisly details [or else] these lovely people won't have anything to be surprised about. That is a part of the storytelling. But I can say this: You will not be disappointed."
Isaiah revealed that he and Sandra filmed all day for three days straight, and that the experience was akin to doing a play. "That energy that people remember? It is there and then some — on steroids."
And the actor addressed that selfie that Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) took with him. "That was Day 1. It went around the world! And we were told not to do that, you know? But she's Ellen Pompeo. So she said, 'No, it's love here.'"
He recounts that Ellen had him watch her Instagram as the snapshot went viral, getting 2,000 likes in the first five minutes: "That just [shows] the power of the people, the love, the passion…"
OK, our curiosity is piqued. We'll see how all that steroidal energy will manifest itself when Burke shows up on the scene in May!
How do you think Burke will come back? Speculate away in the comments below.
