Gwendoline Christie Replacing Lily Rabe in The Hunger Games

Big news today, Game of Thrones and Hunger Games fans! Our favorite warrior woman, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), just landed herself a spot in the Jennifer Lawrence-led franchise. You can pinch yourself, but we swear you’re not dreaming.

Deadline reports the exciting update, saying Gwendoline will be appearing as Commander Lyme in the two-part finale, Mockingjay. Lyme is the badass chick from District 2 who’s a past victor of an unspecified Hunger Games, and one of the first members to join in the rebellion that sweeps Panem.

Actress Lily Rabe was originally slated for the role, but the American Horror Story star has a conflicting prior commitment to Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare in the Park. Sorry to see you go, Lily, but we can’t lie! Brienne meets Hunger Games is going to be awesome.

Described in the novels as very tall and muscular, Lyme sounds like a perfect role for Gwendoline. She’s already got plenty of experience being a cool and aloof warrior who’s awesome with a sword but maybe not so great socially.

While unfortunately, she likely won’t have a companion quite as golden as Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), we do expect some Gwendoline-J.Law screentime. Stop pinching yourself! We told you this isn’t a dream.
